Each 2027 Durango model family has its own V-8. GT HEMI versions carry the 5.7-liter HEMI, rated at 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft; R/T 392 versions get the 6.4-liter, good for 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft; and the SRT Hellcat uses a supercharged 6.2-liter rated at 710 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive come with all of them.

Towing tops out at 8,700 pounds, properly equipped, on the R/T 392, the SRT Hellcat and a GT HEMI with Tow ‘n Go, and Dodge calls that best-in-class for its segment; other GT HEMI models are rated up to 7,200 pounds. The EPA rates the GT HEMI at 17 mpg combined and the R/T 392 at 15.

A 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 NAV touchscreen is standard in every model, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and TomTom navigation that helps on the back roads to Owyhee County. The 7-inch digital cluster and Performance Pages round out the dash.

Passengers can connect to the built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Audio comes from Alpine, with nine speakers and a subwoofer, on most trims, while Premium versions of the GT HEMI and R/T 392 get 19 Harman Kardon speakers. Maps and software stay current through over-the-air updates.

Standard safety equipment starts with Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection, which watch the lanes beside and behind the Durango, plus front and rear ParkSense sensors and a ParkView backup camera. Ready Alert Braking, Rain Brake Support, Hill-start Assist and side-curtain airbags for every row are standard too.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop, standard on the Plus and Premium versions of the GT HEMI and R/T 392, is a help on long highway drives, and the GT HEMI Premium, R/T 392 Plus and R/T 392 Premium add LaneSense Lane Departure Warning Plus. For 2027, a security update also makes key fob duplication harder.

Seven-passenger seating is standard on GT HEMI and R/T 392 models, using a second-row bench that folds and tumbles 60/40 and a 50/50 third row, and Plus and Premium trims can swap in captain’s chairs. The SRT Hellcat is a five-seater with an available third row. Cargo volume is 17.2 cubic feet behind the third row, 43.3 behind the second and 85.1 behind the first.

Remote start, heated front seats and three-zone automatic climate control are standard, which matters on a cold Idaho morning. Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats and a power sunroof arrive with the Plus and Premium trims.
